Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences
Hello! My name is Ashley Johnson and I am the Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Hitchcock-Tulare. This is my fourth year working for the Hitchcock-Tulare School District and I am excited to see what the year brings! In 2010 I graduated from Hitchcock-Tulare High School and went on to pursue a degree at South Dakota State University. In May of 2015, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture. In December of 2015, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
During my time at South Dakota State University I completed my Professional Semester I at Brookings High School, my Professional Semester II at Colman-Egan High School, and I student-taught at Redfield High School. While attending college, I worked at both Java City Coffee and Beadle County Weed and Pest.
My husband Nathan works for Hiles Farm, near Broadland. We both enjoy anything outdoors- hunting, fishing, and lake time! Our puppy Willow, who is a white lab, will turn 2 in October. My parents, Jeff and Paula Tollefson, live on a farm near HItchcock. My youngest brother Seth married his high school sweetheart Paige this summer. He works on the farm with my parents. My older sister Megan is a 2nd grade teacher.
I have a lot of hobbies that keep me busy in my spare time. I enjoy being with friends and family, baking, and most importantly ‘junking’. I spend lots of time repurposing old items and crafting.
